AUSTIN, Texas — “Tapestry Dance Company’s Artistic Director Acia Gray is pulling out all the stops again to present the multi-faceted talent of Tapestry Dance Company with the return of April Fools – a vaudeville-style work with special guest The Minor Mishap Marching Band” – The Austin American Statesman
Winner of Best Choreography 2012 by the Austin Critics Table April Fools brings each Tapestry dancer assuming the persona of a vintage variety performer – suave song-and-dance man, a baggy pants clown, leggy chorines and more complete with their own show-biz moniker: From Mr. Midnight to Harmon “Is She or Isn’t She” Knight among them. This high energy and eccentric presentation runs the gamut of tongue in cheek relevance to current events to breath-taking tap dance classics from stage and screen with the incredible music of Lauryn Gould and The Butter Bean Band!
It’s “a celebration of American Vaudeville” with the high energy and eccentric presentation of these international members of Tapestry – the only full-time, professional tap dance company in the world.
Tapestry Dance Company is funded and supported in part by the City of Austin through the Cultural Arts Division and by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts and an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
